About Dr. Guha
Dr. Avirup Guha trained in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease before subspecialising in cardio-oncology — the discipline dedicated to protecting the cardiovascular health of people with cancer. His clinical and research work is built on a simple premise: the most effective cancer therapy is the one a patient’s heart can tolerate. That question has driven his studies of cardiovascular risk in prostate cancer, including the Guha–Stabellini risk classification scores implemented in this site’s calculator, and his contributions to the national and international cardio-oncology literature.
At WellStar Health System, Dr. Guha cares for patients across the full cancer journey — baseline cardiovascular risk assessment before potentially cardiotoxic therapy, surveillance during treatment, and long-term follow-up in survivorship. His practice brings cardiology and oncology into a single conversation, so that cardiovascular decisions support — rather than interrupt — cancer care.
This living guideline grew out of a practical problem: the 2022 ESC cardio-oncology guidelines remain the reference standard, but cardio-oncology evidence moves quickly, and static documents age. Rather than wait for the next scheduled revision, this site pairs each 2022 ESC recommendation with the strongest 2023–2026 evidence, updates individual sections as new data are published, and invites the clinicians who use it to flag corrections or new references directly — a document that stays current because the community using it helps maintain it.
